Every morning, the kohen of the terumat hadeshen takes the silver pan, goes up to the top, scoops consumed coals from the middle of the fire and comes down. On the floor he turns north, walks about ten amot along the east side of the kevesh and piles them on the pavement, three tefachim from the kevesh. The crops of the birds and the ashes of the inner altar and of the Menorah are also put there.
