The bearer sets the basket beside the altar, at the south-west horn, on its south side, bows and goes out. The turtledoves and young pigeons hung behind the baskets — not on top, so as not to soil the fruit — are offered as olot. The rich bring their bikkurim in baskets overlaid with silver and gold, the poor in wicker baskets of peeled willow; baskets and bikkurim are given to the kohanim, but the rich get their baskets back. It is best to bring each species in its own basket; in a single one, barley at the bottom, then wheat, olives, dates, pomegranates, and figs above all.
