Esplanade of the Har HaBayit

The Temple complex is not set at the center of the mountain: the largest open space is to the south, then to the east, then to the north, the smallest to the west. One enters by the right and exits by the left, except someone to whom something has happened — a mourner, an excommunicate —, who goes around by the left.
