Reaching “Arami oved avi”, the bearer lowers the basket from his shoulder and holds it by its rim; the kohen puts his hand beneath it and waves it — forward and back, up and down —, and the bearer reads to the end of the passage. One may wave even east of the altar, all the more so to its west. For the waving, the Israelite enters the Ezrat Kohanim.
